Environmental Policy
Our
Responsible Environmental Policy is much more than a
slogan
(REP), REP brings
together, in a
formal way many of Benson Tank Lines'
long standing practices in
the areas of
health, safety and the environment. REP
does so in a way, that
involves the public
and responds to their expectations.
REP Demands the involvement of everyone in
our industry. It is a condition at
Benson Tank
Lines that the Cheif Executive Officer signs
and stands behind the
guiding principles,
pledging Benson Tank Lines to:
- Be sensitive and responsive to legitimate
community concerns.
- Adopt safe work practices and comply with environmental conservation procedures
and programs to continually improve operations beyond minimum acceptable standardsli>
Ensure that chemical operations and transportation do not present an
unacceptable level of risk to our employees, customers, the public, and the
environment
- Make health, safety, and environmental considerations a priority
in our planning for existing products, and processes for transportation.
-
Increase the emphasis on the understanding of existing products and their uses,
and ensure a high level of understanding of new products and their potential
hazards is achieved prior to and throughout distribution
- Comply with legal
requirements which affect our operations, transportation and distribution
-
Work actively with and assist governments and community organization to foster
and encourage equitable and attainable standards.
The Responsible
Environmental policy (REP) initiative consists of seven comprehensive codes of
practice. These codes set out basic strategies for companies governing community
awareness and emergency response, manufacturing, transportation, distribution
and hazardous waste management. The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions has
also been added to this list.
-
At Benson Tank Lines, our effect on the environment has been base-lined and our
commitment for reduction of our carbon footprint will be ongoing.
